Sylloge Inscriptionum Graecarum: 518

A DEDICATION BY ANTIGONOS AT DELOS

Greek text:   IG_11.4.1097
Date:     222 B.C.
Format:   see key to translations

The Antigonid kings maintained a close relationship with Delos throughout most of the third century B.C., and there was a significant Macedonian community on the island ( see Syll_575 ), so it is not surprising that Antigonos chose it as a place to celebrate his victory in the battle of Sellasia.

King Antigonos, son of king Demetrios, [with the Macedonians] and their allies, dedicated this [to Apollo], from the spoils of the battle near Sellasia.
