Kallikles clearly gave exceptional service; the herald of the Amphictyons is rarely mentioned in surviving decrees (for instance, Syll_498), let alone honoured. The Athenians were not officially represented on the Amphictyonic Council at this time, but following their acceptance of the Soteria games in 250/49 B.C. (Syll_408) they were probably taking an increased interest in events at Delphi.
