This inscription shows that there was some continuity in the government of Caria before and after it came under Macedonian control. The original grant of privileges been had made jointly by the Koarendians and Mausolos (377-353 B.C.), and now it was renewed by this decree of the Koarendians.
In the first year of the reign of king Philippos, when Asandros was satrap, it was resolved by the Koarendians to inscribe in [the temple] at Lagina a record of the freedom from taxes, which Mausolos son of Hekatomnos and the Koarendians have granted to E...is . . ., the son of Ortēymos, and his descendants, for all their (?) farms and their other possessions.
