EMANCIPATION OF A SLAVE

The 10th year of the Emperor Caesar Domitianus Augustus Germanicus, on the 6th intercalary day of Hyperberetaeus, dies augustus, which is the 6th intercalary day of the month Caesareus, dies augustus, at Oxyrhynchus in the Thebaid, before three agoranomi, all called Psammis. Achilleus, aged about 20 years, of medium height, with fair complexion, long face, and a scar in the middle of his forehead, and Sarapas, aged about . . years, of medium height, with fair complexion, long face, and a scar on his left . ., both sons of . . son of Ammonius, their mother being Sarapous daughter of . . ., all of Oxyrhynchus, have set free under sanction of Zeus, Earth, and Sun, by deed drawn up in the street, the third part which they jointly own of the female slave who has already been freed as regards the other two thirds, namely Apollonous, aged about 26 years, of medium height, with fair complexion, long face, and a scar on the right foot; and whereas she has already been freed to the extent of two thirds for . . . talents, the sum payable in respect of the third part now being freed consists of a fee of . . - drachmas 4 obols of coined silver and of the ransom paid to Achilleus and Sarapas by Heraclas son of Tryphon son of his mother being Taonnophris daughter of Panesies, of the said city, aged about 31 years, of medium height, with fair complexion, long face, and a scar above the right knee, namely 200 drachmas of Imperial silver coin and . . talents 1000 drachmas of copper; and it shall not be lawful for Achilleus or anyone else on his behalf to demand the aforesaid ransom from Apollonous or her assigns or to . . . Certifier of the manumission: . . . son of . . son of Peteesis, his mother being of the said city, aged about 40 years, of medium height, with fair complexion, long face, and a scar on the . . shin, in the street as said.
