After the Macedonian conquest, some influential Persians remained in Caria; and in this inscription one of them, along with his son, is appointed to a position of authority in the temple near Amyzon, at the direct request of the local satrap.
In the fourth year of the reign of Philippos, when Asandros was satrap, in the month of Marsellios; when Paos son of Artimes was president in Amyzon, and Panamyēs son of Hyssollos, Hyrgas son of Kotobalos and Timagoras son of Aristodamos were archons, and Paos son of Panamyēs was mountain-guard, and Hyssollos son of Hekatomnos was treasurer of the goddess, and Menandros was curator; it was resolved by the Amyzonians in full assembly, as recommended by Asandros: that Bagadates shall be temple-warden {neōkoros} of Artemis, as indicated by the Pythian oracle.
