ARCHAGATHOS DEDICATES A SHRINE IN ALEXANDRIA

The identity of this Archagathos has been discussed by R.S.Bagnall, "Archagathos son of Agathocles, Epistates of Libya" ( PDF ), who suggests that Archagathos may have been a son of Theoxena.


On behalf of king Ptolemaios, son of Ptolemaios and Berenike the Saviours, Archagathos son of Agathokles, the governor {epistatēs} of Libya, and his wife Stratonike dedicated this shrine to Sarapis and Isis.
