Date:   A.D. 179.

Heliodorus son of Serenus, trooper of the ala Gallica in the squadron of Ammonianus, and Julius Serenus, trooper of the same ala and the same squadron, to Serenus the chief paymaster greeting. We have received from you our fodder allowance in advance on setting out for the Bucolia, being twenty-five denarii each for the 19th year of Aurelius Antoninus Caesar and Aurelius Commodus Caesar the lords, Tubi 23. I, Achilles son of Achilles, trooper of the same ala in the squadron of Herodianus, have written for them at their request, because Heliodorus writes with difficulty.

{Signed}   I, Heliodorus, have received it as aforesaid.
