Sections A and C of the inscription are too fragmentary to translate. Various different suggestions have been made about who wrote the letter; see S.L.Ager, "Interstate Arbitrations in the Greek World, 337–90 B.C.", no. 100 ( Google Books ).
[B] . . . [from the day] that I wrote the letter . . . [within] one hundred and twenty [days]. Farewell.
The boundary-officers shall establish boundaries for [the Milesians and] Prieneans [in this manner, as determined] by the people of Smyrna in these [places, in the presence of witnesses] from the Milesians and Prieneans, [so that] . . . may take care that everything is done [according to the] decision of the people [of Smyrna]; and [since the arbitrators] were brought in . . . at a time they did not wish, [and acting with all] earnestness and honourable conduct to . . .
